The course is delivered through in-centre training or a virtual classroom (online) led by experienced tutors. Candidates attend five days of live instructor-led sessions where key design principles, calculations, and regulatory requirements are explained. In addition to the training sessions, learners must complete an independent design project estimated at around 40 hours. The final written exam is taken in-centre at an approved exam location.
Requirement
To enrol on the Design, Erection and Verification 2396 course, candidates should be experienced electricians with a solid background in electrical installation work. It is recommended that learners already hold an Inspection and Testing qualification such as City & Guilds 2391, 2394, or 2395. Candidates should also have a good understanding of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, typically demonstrated by holding the City & Guilds 2382 qualification or an equivalent. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to join the course.
