Course Cancellation, Return & Refund Policy

Applies to digital learning courses, in-centre courses, blended courses and courses listed on Google Shopping 

1. Return-request window 

  • You may request a refund within 14 calendar days of purchase/acceptance, provided you have not started the course or used any course-related services. 

For the purpose of this policy, “started the course” includes, but is not limited to: 

  • accessing, opening, viewing or streaming any online lesson, module or course content;
  • downloading, opening or accessing any course materials, resources, handouts or documents;
  • using any learner login, online platform access or digital learning account provided as part of the course;
  • attempting any quiz, test, assignment, assessment or portfolio activity;
  • attending any in-centre classroom, practical, workshop, assessment, induction or training session;
  • receiving any one-to-one tutor support, learner support, portfolio support, admin support or course-related service. 

Refund requests made after the course has been started, even partially, are not normally accepted unless required by applicable consumer protection law. 

2. Late bookings and courses starting within 14 days 

Where you book a course that is due to start within 14 calendar days of your purchase/acceptance date, you agree that Elec Training may begin providing services immediately. 

This may include, but is not limited to: 

  • reserving your course place;
  • making your place unavailable to other learners;
  • allocating tutor, classroom, workshop, assessment or practical training capacity;
  • issuing course joining instructions;
  • setting up your learner account;
  • providing online course access;
  • preparing course materials and learner resources;
  • arranging administration connected to your booking, enrolment or course start. 

If you cancel after Elec Training has started providing these services, Elec Training may deduct a reasonable amount where lawful to cover costs already incurred and services already provided. 

If you attend any in-centre classroom, practical, workshop, assessment, induction or training session, or access, open, view, stream or use any online course content, learner platform, learner resources or course materials, you will be treated as having started the course. 

Refunds for late bookings are not normally available once the course has started, once attendance has taken place, once online access has been used, or once course materials/resources have been accessed, unless required by applicable consumer protection law. 

3. Online access and lifetime access 

Where online course access is provided, this may include ongoing or lifetime access to digital learning content and resources. 

Because online access gives you immediate and continuing use of the course materials, refunds are not normally available once online access has been used, course content has been opened, or resources have been accessed, unless required by applicable consumer protection law. 

This applies whether the course is delivered fully online, in centre, or through a blended format combining online learning with classroom, practical, workshop or assessment sessions. 

4. Eligibility conditions 

A refund may be approved where all of the following apply: 

  • the refund request is made within 14 calendar days of purchase/acceptance;
  • the course shows 0% progress in our learning platform;
  • no lessons, modules or course content have been accessed, opened, viewed or streamed;
  • no materials, handouts, documents or bundled resources have been downloaded, opened or accessed;
  • no assessments, quizzes, tasks, assignments or portfolio activities have been attempted;
  • the learner has not attended any in-centre classroom, practical, workshop, assessment, induction or training session;
  • the learner has not received any one-to-one tutor support, learner support, portfolio support, admin support or course-related service;
  • no other digital, classroom, practical or learner support access has been used. 

Refund requests made after course content has been accessed, online access has been used, learner resources have been opened, or any in-centre training/support has been attended, even partially, are not normally accepted unless required by applicable consumer protection law. 

5. Administration fees and deductions 

Where a refund is approved, Elec Training may deduct a reasonable amount where lawful to cover costs already incurred, including administration, platform access, licensing, payment processing, course setup or services already provided. 

Any deduction will depend on the circumstances of the booking and the stage reached. 

6. PayItMonthly and payment plans 

If you choose to pay through PayItMonthly, your payment plan is arranged through PayItMonthly as a third-party payment/finance provider. 

Your course booking is with Elec Training. Your payment plan is with PayItMonthly. 

Cancelling your direct debit, card payment or PayItMonthly payment instruction does not automatically cancel your course booking. 

If you wish to cancel your course, you must contact Elec Training directly using the details in this policy. 

If your cancellation or refund request is approved, Elec Training will request that the relevant PayItMonthly agreement, balance or payment plan is cancelled or amended where appropriate. 

Any refund or balance adjustment may be processed through PayItMonthly rather than paid directly to you. 

7. Missed payments or payment difficulties 

If you are having difficulty making payments, you should contact PayItMonthly as soon as possible and also inform Elec Training. 

You should not cancel your direct debit, card payment or payment instruction without contacting PayItMonthly and Elec Training first, as this may place your account into arrears and may affect your ability to continue accessing the course. 

8. How to request a refund 

Email [email protected] with: 

  • your full name;
  • order number;
  • purchase date;
  • course name;
  • course start date, if applicable;
  • the email address used at checkout;
  • whether you paid directly or through PayItMonthly;
  • the reason for your refund request. 

We will review your course-access, attendance and service status and aim to confirm the outcome within two business days. 

If eligible, the refund, less any lawful deductions where applicable, will be processed to your original payment method or via PayItMonthly, where PayItMonthly was used, within 14 days of approval. 

A confirmation receipt will be emailed to you. 

9. Non-refundable items and situations 

Refunds are not normally available for: 

  • courses where any online content has been accessed, opened, viewed or streamed;
  • courses where any learner platform access has been used;
  • courses where any learner resources, handouts, documents or
  • course materials have been accessed, opened or downloaded;
  • courses where any assessments, quizzes, tasks, assignments or portfolio activities have been attempted;
  • courses where the learner has attended any in-centre classroom, practical, workshop, assessment, induction or training session;
  • courses where the learner has received one-to-one tutor support, learner support, portfolio support, admin support or any other course-related service;
  • gift cards, vouchers or promotional credits;
  • requests received after the 14-day window;
  • or any course where digital access, in-centre attendance or learner support has already started, unless a refund is required by law. 

10. Additional information 

This policy is written to meet Google Merchant Center requirements for return timelines, fees and contact instructions. 

Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected.
