If you want to move past basic installations and bridge the gap to becoming a fully qualified professional, the Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry (2366-03) is your ideal pathway.
This modern qualification replaces the legacy 2365-03, giving you a current, respected credential that employers across the UK building services sector actively look for.
Key benefits of upgrading to Level 3:
Course Snapshot
The Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry (2366-03) blends classroom theory with intensive, hands-on workshop training. You will master advanced electrical principles and installation practices using industry-standard tools and equipment.
How you will learn and be assessed:
Requirement
To enrol on the City & Guilds 2366-03, learners must be aged 19 or above. You will also need to hold one of the following qualifications:
Important Note: This is an intensive, advanced course that builds directly on the foundational theory taught at Level 2. Learners should have a good understanding of basic electrical principles and installation practices gained through their Level 2 study.
Why take this course?
The City & Guilds 2366-03 is the newly updated, official industry replacement for the older 2365-03 diploma. It ensures your training perfectly mirrors modern technical standards, making it a highly respected and recognized qualification across the UK electrical sector.
This course is the ideal next step if you have successfully completed your Level 2 electrical training and want to formalize your advanced theory and workshop skills. It bridges the gap between basic installation and full electrician status, delivering the deeper technical knowledge in design, advanced science, and fault diagnosis required to confidently progress your career.
Course Note: While all design and practical modules are taught in strict accordance with the current BS 7671 wiring regulations, this course does not award the standalone City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition) certification.
City and Guilds Qualifications
On successful completion, you will achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Electrical Installation (Diploma), qualification code 2366-03.
Course Content
The City & Guilds 2366-03 consists of six mandatory units. To achieve the full diploma, learners will complete a combination of online examinations, written assignments, and practical workshop assessments.
Course Cost
The course costs £2,707.50 excluding VAT (£3,249.00 including VAT).

FAQ
The 2366-03 is the Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry Diploma in Electrical Installation. It is the official, newly updated industry replacement for the older, legacy 2365-03 course, ensuring your training reflects the absolute latest technical standards.
No. To become fully qualified and earn your ECS Gold Card, you must complete this classroom/workshop technical diploma, progress to a work-based Level 3 NVQ to prove your competence on-site, and pass the AM2 practical assessment.
You must be 19 or older and hold a verified City & Guilds 2365-02 (Level 2) qualification or an exact equivalent electrical installation diploma. Because this course jumps immediately into advanced electrical science and complex circuit calculations, general site experience or qualifications in other trades cannot be accepted as a substitute.
No. While all advanced design, testing, and practical modules are taught in strict accordance with the current BS 7671 wiring regulations, this diploma does not award the separate, standalone City & Guilds 2382 certification. Most students choose to complete the 18th Edition as a short standalone course alongside or immediately after this diploma.
Assessment is split across three online multiple-choice exams via the City & Guilds e-volve platform, one formal written design assignment, and one comprehensive hands-on practical assignment covering advanced inspection, testing, and fault-finding carried out in our training bays.
Once achieved, you are ready to move onto the work-based NVQ Level 3 and the AM2 assessment. Our dedicated placement team works closely with graduates to help connect you with local employers and secure the on-site work placements needed to complete your NVQ portfolio.
